When exploring what emotional wellness is you have to take a long look in the mirror. My clients almost always find their core self when they explore their emotional wellness. Being emotionally aware of yourself will enable you to positively receive everything about yourself both internally and externally, as well as be positively accepting of others and their behaviors.
A person who is emotionally well is aware that in order to stay well he has to respond in a proper way to the situations in life and realize that reacting negatively to situations is not a part of being emotionally well. With your emotional wellness having to do with all of your feelings in how you react and feel the way you do about different situations, it directly impacts your life and whoever may be around you at the time.
Going through life accepting and willing to make changes in a positive way – whether it is for you or sacrificing for someone else’s happiness – is what emotional wellness is about. In order to improve self awareness, it’s very important to identify your personal strengths and weaknessess – everybody has them – because only then will you know the changes you need to work on. You can reach your most healthy well-being when you stick with healthy life choices, including choosing to always see the positive, no matter what a situation brings.
Of course it would be great if life experiences were positive, but challenges and disappointments do occur and it will help you to keep that in mind. Life can emotionally disrupt all of the positive things that you had built up around you. It is the negative disruptions in life that you must be especially prepared for and know how you will respond instead of reacting to whatever the situation may be at the time.
As negative situations arise you will at times have negative feelings about the circumstance. You have to remember to work with the negative emotion and try to understand exactly why you feel this way and work with that emotion from that point on, so that you can eventually turn that feeling of emotional un-wellness into feelings of emotional wellness.
