Kidney stones sizes vary from each other. The small ones can easily pass through the urinary tract which won’t cause any pain at all. It is only when the stones are bigger and can cause blockage of the passage of the urine and thus can cause severe pain.
Normally when a person is tested positive of kidney stones they will experience pain in their lower back or in the area near the kidney. The sharp and cramping pain may even reach the groin area that cause total discomfort.

Another indication or sign that you have stones in your kidney is when there is blood in your urine or semen, and you feel pain when you urinate. When the blood is diluted in the urine it may sometimes have a pinkish color. A darker urine is also a symptom of kidney stones. This can also be an indication that you have a kidney disease.
If you urinate more often than you normally then there is also a possibilty that you have kidney stones. Also, if you notice some small particles of stones in your urine then this can also be a sign.
